It started with a romantic proposal in Iceland and the rest is history!

First comes love then comes marriage—but first, the engagement! Here at David’s Bridal we’re all about celebrating new beginnings. So we’re diving a little bit deeper in to those moments before the aisle, learning all about a bride’s proposal, wedding vision, and style before the big day. And we’re starting with one of our own! Grace from our Marketing team is recently engaged and obviously the office is abuzz with even more wedding excitement than usual. From how they met, their engagement, her wedding style and more, read on for a peek at the beginning of Grace’s wedding journey.

How did you and your fiancé meet?

We met in college while studying abroad in Italy! In the first few weeks, we were on a class trip to the Colosseum and my friend and I didn’t know our way back to school yet. We saw a group at the bus stop that we recognized as being other students from our program and asked to tag along getting back to school with them. I never would have expected my future husband to be in that group!

How did you know your fiancé was the one?

There wasn’t one big moment, but many small ones. Moments where I could really see how much he knew me and was a perfect complement to my personality. Moments where I could see how caring he was, and all the times we spent laughing together where I knew I wanted to continue that forever.

Tell us your proposal story?

We went to Iceland with a group of friends in September. There are countless beautiful spots there so he had some really good options of where to pop the question. It ended up being at a stunning black sand beach. I was completely surprised in the moment and it was really special to be surrounded by our closest friends. They were all in on the secret and were able to get some great photos of the proposal.

When is the wedding?!

We are getting married in October of 2021 in a wooded area that is decorated in string lights and has a huge barn on the property. Our vision is a rustic, fun, casual vibe and are excited to have found a venue that fits what we were looking for. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the next two years that we end up with good weather!

How has working at David’s Bridal inspired your wedding planning?

It has really shown me that your wedding can be anything you want it to be. If there are traditions that aren’t your style, you don’t have to feel any pressure to include them in your day. You can really personalize it however you want and have your day reflect you as a couple.

How will you be incorporating your personal style into your bride-to-be looks?

My style leans towards bohemian and I love getting dressed up, so for events around my wedding, I’ll opt for dressier versions of my everyday style. For my wedding day look, I am looking for something ethereal, boho, and comfortable, incorporating lace touches and turquoise jewelry!

What events surrounding the wedding are you most excited about?

I am really excited for my bachelorette party because it will be time to spend with my closest girlfriends. It’s rare to be able to gather the whole group of friends together at one time! My fiancé and I are also super excited to plan our honeymoon. We have been fortunate enough that travel has been a highlight of our relationship so we can’t wait to plan another big trip together!

We’re sure you’ve received tons of wedding tips since getting engaged–what’s one piece of advice that you can share with recently engaged brides?

I’ve heard time and time again that your wedding day is a whirlwind of excitement and to make sure you are fully present. So slow down to enjoy the process and day with your spouse.

Life is full of amazing, magical moments and we can’t wait to be there along the way. For every special dress, accessory, or memento that life calls for. Are you recently engaged and ready to get planning? Sign up to be the first to know about the latest trends, launches, and inspiration throughout your wedding journey and beyond.

Whether it’s a night on the town, a weekend in wine country, or a day at the spa, all bachelorette parties have one thing in common: They’re a wonderful way for the bride to spend some quality time with her nearest and dearest. But with so many options on where to go and what to do, it can feel like an overwhelming task to put together the perfect outing. We’ve compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to how to plan a bachelorette party, so all the bride needs to do is relax and enjoy the time with her best buds.

Who should plan the bachelorette party?

Traditionally, the maid of honor plans the bachelorette fiesta, but this is not a hard and fast rule. Perhaps the MOH lives far away from the rest of the bridal party, or she’s in the middle of a super-intense graduate program, or maybe event planning is just not her forte. If the maid of honor isn’t up to the task, another bridesmaid or close friend can certainly step in. We’ve even heard of instances where the bride plans her own bachelorette party—sometimes a lady knows exactly what she wants, and we salute that. In short: When it comes to who coordinates the big night uut, pretty much anything goes.

Should the bride weigh in?

Before getting into the nitty-gritty, take a moment to sit down with the bride and ask about her preferences. After all, the party is for her, and there’s no sense in throwing her a wild night out on the town if she’s envisioning a peaceful hike through the woods with her closest pals. Ideally, the bride should decide on the guest list, whether the event is local or destination, and the general vibe of the soiree. You will also want to have the bride share her vision when it comes to if this is a one day event or a weekend style party along with if she is okay with traveling especially if it includes air travel. Another important pieces of the planning process to ask and keep in mind when the ideal time would be for the bride for this event to be hosted. You don’t want to book a weekend away only to find out later she needs to work or has another commitment.

How can everyone figure out the finances?

Talking about money can be, well, awkward, but when it comes to bachelorette parties, it’s a necessary evil. We recommend polling a few of the bride’s most important guests to get a sense of their budgets, and then planning a party that takes into account the smallest budget in the group. Once you establish a budget, it’s a good idea to be clear about financial expectations—how much everyone owes, what their contribution includes, and when it is due. Everyone will have more fun if they’re not stressed about money, and if everyone’s living it up, the bride will be happy too!

What details need to be figured out?

Now for the fun part! As the Esteemed Party Planner, you get to decide on all or at least most of he details. Make sure to take care of big to-dos, like making reservations, arranging transportation, and securing lodging at least two months in advance. You can also send out a save the date email around this time. Once that’s locked down, you can start thinking about the smaller stuff, like decorations and games.

What decorations are needed?

The only rule of decorating for a bachelorette party is…just kidding, there are no rules! As long as you take into account the comfort level of the bride, feel free to go crazy here. Pick a theme or a color scheme, dress up in matching outfits, crown the bride with a flashy veil, and supply props for photo ops. If the bride is into games, you can dream up a few organized activities to get the guests laughing. And as a final gesture, we like to put together a small thank-you gift for each guest. This can be something as simple as a wine glass or a canvas bag. No need to break the bank—it’s the thought that counts.

When should all the plans be confirmed?

Don’t forget to confirm your reservations for your accommodations, transportation, and travel plans. Do this a week out from the event, and then again the day before, just to be on the safe side. And that’s it—you’re all set! Party on.

Steps to planning the perfect bachelorette party!

Now that you have had a moment to review the most commonly asked questions when it comes to planning the perfect bachelorette party, you can follow our simple step-by-step guide to planning an unforgettable bachelorette party or weekend. Take a look at the 10 steps you need to take to create a one-of-a-kind bachelorette party or weekend.

  1. Select the guest list
Work with the bride to create the perfect guests list including members of the bridal party along with any other special friends or guests she would like to have there.
  2. Decide on the location
The bride should fill you in with an idea of where she would like to party and from there you and your planning crew can get to work.
  3. Figure out the dates
Get that group text going and work together to figure out the perfect date for the event or perfect dates if you are planning a longer weekend style event.
  4. Decide on a theme
Some bachelorette parties and weekends will include a special theme so you might want to find a little inspiration and start sharing what you are thinking with the larger group.
  5. Research & book accommodations
If you are traveling for the bachelorette party or weekend you will need to research and book your hotel accommodations. Work together with your planning crew to see if a hotel or a rental home is going to be needed for the trip.
  6. Book travel plans
The earlier you can book those travel plans especially if it includes airline tickets the better. Get the word out to the group and try to coordinate flights to arrive close in time to make transportation easy.
  7. Plan group activities
Now you are getting the fun part where you get to plan those fun group activities for both day and night time!
  8. Book group meals
If you are traveling with a large group you should work to make restaurant reservations especially for dinner in advance.
  9. Purchase tickets for attractions, shows or concerts
If you plan to attend any sort of attraction, show or concert type of event you will want to make sure you have your tickets in advance and if you are traveling with a large group you might even be able to qualify for a group discount.
  10. Coordinate party decor and matching attire
It is popular to decorate the hotel or lodging space along with getting fun matching attire and items for the entire bride tribe. Explore more bachelorette party gifts and tees, plus little white dresses for the bride-to-be!

Congrats class of 2019!

You did it! All of your hard work has come to this and time to celebrate your graduation…in style! And a special day calls for an extra-special look, for the ceremony, dinner, after-party, and all of the photo-opps in between. Stumped on what to wear? Here are some graduation outfit tips to keep in mind:

Crisp White is a typical graduation dress color choice, working under every gown color and perfect for summer. But off-white, pastel, or fresh prints make for a beautiful look, too!

Opt for a shorter hem as a maxi dress will peek out from your gown awkwardly. A mini or midi will work great with the ankle-length robe!

Is your graduation outside? Cap off your look with sandals, block heels, or wedges so you stay steady for your walk across the stage.

Take notes from these stylish brides-to-be

First comes the proposal then comes all of the amazing bridal fashion moments. Your dress decision doesn’t just begin and end with the gown you’ll wear down the aisle. There are many events during your reign as bride-to-be that call for a special dress, and a white hue is an appropriate color choice! From your engagement party to the rehearsal dinner and every other event surrounding the wedding, a little white dress that fits your personal style makes sure you look the part. We’ve teamed up with some of our bride-to-be blogger friends to style little white dresses from our collection!

Woman with long dark hair in short white lace dress with 3/4 length sleeves pictured outdoors standing on marble steps

Makayla of Fashionably Kay fell in love with this pretty lace dress for her engagement party. Not pictured? The adorable keyhole back. Complete the look with a strappy heel and clutch.

Woman standing near white pillars in a long white beaded dress with white leather jacket draped over her shoulders

Alexi of House Gleaves would rock this beaded dress to her rehearsal dinner. We love how the ivory leather jacket adds a little edge.

Woman in a white strapless lace dress with high-low hem sipping a glass of rose wine

Maria of Savvynista was looking for a reception dress! How cute is this high-low lace dress for the dance floor? We love how she paired it with a lace peep-toe.

African American woman standing on marble stairs in a long white off-the-shoulder dress and gold accessories

Crushing on Courtney of Curls and Couture‘s shoulder moment sheath. The slit means you can show off an amazing pair of shoes and the open neckline calls for a statement necklace. We can see this at a semi-formal bridal shower.

Woman in a short spaghetti strap lace dress standing on a brick road

Victoria of A Gallon of Glitter has her rehearsal dinner dress ready! This laser cut lace sheath is a beautiful way to start the wedding weekend. We love how she paired it with stacked bangles and a bold earring.

The accessories make the look.

Your white dress shopping doesn’t end at the wedding gown; every event as the bride-to-be is an opportunity to wear a white dress (or jumpsuit or separates!). From the engagement photos to the post-wedding vacay, this hue is always an appropriate choice. And once you choose the perfect LWD, it’s all about finding the perfect accessories that complete the outfit. Today, we’re showing how one little white dress (a super cute off-the-shoulder lace number) can work for multiple wedding occasions depending upon the jewelry, shoes, and handbag you pair with it!

For the Bachelorette Party

This short frock is ready for a night out! Pair it with gilded heels, hoops, and handbag for a dose of sparkle and a bright pink ‘bride’ headband so everyone knows your status. Additional must-haves include a sash, champagne, and your best girls by your side.

For the Bridal Shower
Are your family and friends planing a brunch to celebrate your upcoming I Do’s? Fun pops of color are perfect for a daytime soiree; colorful earrings, handbag, and lipstick will brighten up an otherwise all white outfit.

For the Honeymoon

Time to soak in that ‘just-married’ feeling! If you’re headed to the tropics, be sure to add sleek sandals, fun earrings, and this amazing straw hat to your honeymoon checklist. These fashionable extras will take you from the dunes to dinner in no time.

Tell us how your go-to fashion accessory in the comments below and then explore more ways to complete your look for every special event here.
